'Jiang Rong' is the pen name of a rather mysterious figure, named Lu Jiamin, who keeps a low profile probably for political reasons. He's a research professor of history at a university in Beijing, and the author of Wolf Totem, though it's likely he'll have difficulty publishing another book.
