Paper Republic: Chinese Literature Matters

Comparing styles - who do you write like?

By Helen Wang, published

Have you tried this?
Copy and paste something you've written or translated, then press the Analyse button, and it will suggest an author you write like. I don't know how this works (or how accurate it is), but it's quite good fun.

I ran a few samples from the PR Translation Samples page through this 'analysis' and got the following results!

The Young Couple (Xiaoxiao ji) - like Charles Dickens
Them (Tamen) - like James Joyce
Da-Da-Da (Ba-ba-ba) - like Stephen King
Running through Zhongguancun - like Margaret Mitchell
The Peddlar - like James Fenimore Cooper
