Born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee, Gaines Post graduated from high school hoping to one day teach Chinese literature at Beijing University, become a professional jazz flutist, or ride off into the misty mountains, never to set foot in civilization again. He did immerse himself in a foreign tongue, and he did spend a few years performing with various bands; he even got lost in the wilderness a time or two. Eventually, however, he found his way to Australia, where he and the girl of his dreams are now married and living very happily together in the Illawarra.
