A light boat rows with short strokes, and the West Lake's good.
The limpid waters gently wend;
To the tune of 'The Mulberry-Picking Boy' (1 in a series of 10)
A light boat rows with short strokes, and the West Lake's good.
The limpid waters gently wend;
Grass grows fragrant at water's end,
And all around, faint strains of song attend.
Windless: the water's surface is as smooth as glass.
The boat seems not to move at all;
Ripples go up at the tiniest motion,
And startled birds take flight at the commotion.
