Ye Mei, also known as Yi Mei or Huaizi, is a Tujia writer of fiction, essays, reportage, and scripts. She was born in 1953 in Hubei province. Her story collection May Moths won the Eighth Junma Award, and its title story was awarded silver in the Second Hubei Literature Prize. Her stories explore the changes that modernity has brought to Tujia life and the cultural clashes and compromises between locals and outsiders.
