Mao Jian 毛尖 was born in 1970 in Zhejiang. She is a writer of film, contemporary culture, and modern Chinese literature. Currently a professor at East China Normal University, a researcher at the Urban Culture Research Center of the Institute of Modern Chinese Thought, and the Vice President of the Shanghai Film Critics Society. She is the author of 《非常罪，非常美：毛尖电影笔记》, 《当世界向右的时候》, 《乱来》, 《这些年》, 《例外》, 《我们不懂电影》, 《有一只老虎在浴室》, 《夜短梦长》, 《遇见》, and 《一寸灰》.
