Li Jinxiang, an ethnic Hui writer, was born in Tongxin, Ningxia, in 1968. He has published a novel, Lonely Pairs, as well as several short story collections. His short fiction, which is frequently anthologized, has garnered him awards, including the Tenth Junma Award for the short story “Changing the Water” and the Readers’ Favorite prize from Selected Stories magazine in 2007 for “The Dog Mayor.”
