Since 2015 I have lived in Beijing’s hutongs, wedged between the Confucius & Lama Temples. I work on literary translation from Chinese to English, work published here: zibuyu.blog. I got my first experience in literary translation during Chinese studies degrees at Oxford (BA) and SOAS (MA) and am now seeking projects/translations to get involved with.
I also engage in lots of projects to promote cultural exchange between the world and China. Including recently working as media manager for the Bookworm's EU-China literary festival, and working as director of Gotoco (www.go-to.co) which focusses on youth mobility cultural exchange and has brought nearly 2000 students to visit China,
For fun, I organise a literary translation bookclub and a football team in Beijing. I spend half the year outside Mainland China - travelling/working remotely and living in boats/vans somewhere. I am often on HK's Lamma Island or in my homeland (UK)
