Da Xie is the penname of Xie Wenge, born in Hebei in 1957. After studying irrigation at Tsinghua University, he became chief editor of a monthly poetry periodical in the eighties. He received acclaim for his early epic-length work Elegy. Da Xie now lives in Shijiazhuang; he received the Lu Xun Literature Prize for his poetry collection Personal History.
