Chen Li 陈黎

Chen Li 陳黎 is a prolific poet, essayist, and translator from Hualien, Taiwan. The author of fifteen poetry volumes so far, Chen Li is arguably the boldest and most persisting poet who experiments with the form and sound of Chinese. Internationally, Chen Li is well-known for his concrete poetry. He and his wife Chang Fen-ling were the first to introduce Latin American poetry to Taiwan through translation. In collaboration with Chang and other translators, he has translated the works of poets worldwide, such as Carol Ann Duffy, Robert Hass, Seamus Heaney, Brenda Hillman, Kobayashi Issa, Matsuo Bashō, Gabriela Mistral, Pablo Neruda, Octavio Paz, Sylvia Plath, Nelly Sachs, and Wisława Szymborska.
