We are pleased to share the results of Paper Republic’s first Community Survey, which ran from 19 November 2025 to 24 February 2026—a total of three months. We received over 133 responses from members of our community, and we would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who took part and contributed their thoughts.

The survey report was completed in late spring. Since then, we have taken time to carefully consider your feedback and explore what changes we can realistically make. We are now ready to share the decisions and actions we have arrived at.

We recognise the importance of improving website usability and enabling users to create and manage their own profiles. With that in mind, we are planning the following enhancements to our website functions:

Enable self-registration for all users

We encourage published translators and Chinese-language authors to sign up for an account. Once you are approved, you will be able to maintain your personal profile page and submit blog posts for review.

Revive the translator contacts function

Translators can now opt to "Allow Contact" by going to Edit your profile > Details> Allow Contact and ticking the box. This option allows authors and other users to send you an email through the Paper Republic website.

Expand our volunteer team for database maintenance

One of our biggest priorities going forward is to bring more young and emerging translators into our community. Paper Republic has been around for a long time, and we want to make sure that the newer generation of translators is able to benefit from and engage with our existing community as much as possible. Here is how you can help us with this:

Share Paper Republic with your translator network
Make sure the Chinese-to-English translators you know are aware of this resource and subscribed to our newsletter. If you are or know an emerging translator who is not yet in our translator WeChat group, email us at infoATpaper-republicDOTorg.

Help us spread the word about Paper Republic at universities around the world
If you have an idea to help us bring young translators at universities into our community, please reach out to us!

That's all for now – and thank you again, sincerely, to everyone who participated. We genuinely look forward to hearing more from you on how we can improve our services.
