Akbar Mijit

Akbar Mijit (艾克拜尔·米吉提) was born in Huocheng County, Xinjiang, in 1954, to a Kazakh family. His debut work, Nurman and His Hound Balis, published in 1978, won a national short fiction prize, and he has since won three awards given to writers from ethnic minority backgrounds. His oeuvre now includes several full-length novels as well as novellas and short stories.
