This the second book by legendary Taiwanese writer Qiu Miaojin, first published one year before she ended her life with a knife in Paris in 1995, at the age of 26. Famous for her innovative writing style and her harried personal life as a lesbian, Qiu was a literary pioneer of the 1990s. Notes of the Crocodile is a novel depicting the tangled life and souls of homosexual and bisexual lovers. Due to its ostensibly "sensitive" theme, it has taken 18 years for the book to be published in Mainland China.
