Wong Leung Wo was born in Hong Kong and graduated from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. His role as a part-time instructor of a poetry workshop at the Hong Kong Arts Centre in 1995 led to the founding, together with his students, of We poetry journal. He was a co-editor of Huxi Poetry. Wong’s essays, short stories and poetry have won him multiple awards, including the 1992 Hong Kong Biennial Awards for Chinese Literature (Poetry) for Pomelo Lantern (1991) and the 2002 Hong Kong Biennial Awards for Chinese Literature (Fiction) for Curse of the Fish. He is an associate professor at the Hong Kong Institute of Education.
