David Hull, a Chinese Literature graduate student at UCLA, was one of the winners of this year's PEN Translation Prizes, for his English translation of Mao Dun's novel Waverings, book two in a three-part trilogy. Mao Dun (1896-1981) is one of China's literary lions, in the same league as Lu Xun, Ba Jin and Lao She, and gave his name to one of China's most authoritative literary prizes. See PEN's official announcement.
Waverings currently has no English-language publisher.
