Guo Wenbin was born in Xiji in Ningxia in 1966, to a Gansu family. He is currently chair of the Yinchuan Cultural Federation, deputy chair of the Ningxia Writers’ Association, and editor of Yellow River Literature. His bestselling works include In Search of Serenity and What Does the Di Zi Gui Really Say? His novel Lunar Calendar was nominated for the 8th Mao Dun Literature Prize and came seventh in the final round of voting. His short story “Fortunate and Happy” won the People’s Literature Prize, the Selected Fiction Prize and the Lu Xun Literature Prize. Another short story, “Winter Solstice,” won the Beijing Literature Prize. His essay “Eternal Walled Town” won the Bing Xin Essay Prize.
